(ps. just so you know, none of our recommendations are paid. We’ve curated this juicy list of our favourite local spots just for you because we genuinely LOVE the experiences. You’re welcome ❤️)
DAY 1
Head down to Dunsborough, just three hours south of Perth. Once you’ve checked in to your accommodation, take a scenic drive up to Cape Naturaliste. There is a stunning coastal route that traverses the many beautiful bays and will be your perfect introduction to the beauty of the South West.
If the sun is shining, enjoy a coastal walk along the cape-to-cape trail, and otherwise pull up at Point Picquet (pictured) and enjoy the panoramic ocean views; an idyllic spot to watch the storms roll by. From August – November you can see humpback and southern right whales close to shore as they pass on their annual migration.
Once the sun has set, head for dinner at Wayfinder – a charming wine bar and restaurant nestled in the centre of town. They have an incredible selection of wines produced both locally and down in Tasmania, plus an inspired menu of small plates and specialty dishes featuring food from their market garden.
Top tip: visit Bunbury Farmer’s Market on the way down. They have incredible fresh produce, plus homemade meals, gourmet pantry items and so much more. You won’t regret it!
DAY 2
Enjoy a lazy start to the day – grab a coffee and wander down to Dunsborough foreshore to enjoy the calm waters of Geographe Bay.
Then it’s time to get out and enjoy the wineries. Margaret River has over 90 cellar doors to enjoy, each with their own distinctive charm. Enjoy the scenic drive down Caves Road and visit a few at you’re leisure or jump on a tour with South West Luxury Transport and let them show you around the local way.
For lunch, we recommend heading to Masseria at Cherubino - enjoy an Italian inspired menu with stunning vineyard views. Be sure to take a wander through the rose garden overlooking the lake after lunch.
Top tip: if you love the glow of a warming fireplace, head for a tasting at Vasse Felix and enjoy a glass of wine & charcuterie board in their lounge, fireside (pictured)
DAY 3
A day to fully indulge in everything Dunsborough town has to offer. Start your day the local way, with a hearty brunch at La Lah Cafe. Situated right in the heart of town, it is the perfect spot to enjoy a laidback brekkie before exploring the charming boutiques in Dunsborough. After brunch, we highly recommend heading next door to the Christian Fletcher Gallery to revel at the iconic photography of the Margaret River Region.
Finally, get ready for the ultimate indulgence and treat yourself to an afternoon at The House, a brand new BathHouse & alternative facial spa. The intimate communal BathHouse features a traditional dry sauna, aromatherapy steam room, cold plunge, magnesium baths, and a dedicated onsen scrub space, while the FaceHouse offers a non-invasive, no-tox approach to facial wellness. It is the hottest new spot in town, and one not to miss. Bookings are essential.
